” I am pleased to welcome all participants to the First International Congress of Cancer Genomics on behalf of the Italian Society of Biophysics and Molecular Biology (SIBBM).

Cancer research and treatments have made significant progress in the recent years. The advancements of genomic analyses have made it possible to develop new targeted therapies. The progresses in gene and epigenetics editing and the novel developments in immunotherapy approaches are providing new important tools for the treatment of several malignancies. However, the mission to cure cancers is far to be accomplished. The continue development of basic research to investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms is essential for the understanding of the complex network of regulations and instrumental for the dentification potential targets. The ongoing research is instrumental to understand the basis of the establishment and progression of cancer and certainly will lead the development of new cancer treatments. In the meeting we will have the opportunity to examine the state of the art of the ongoing studies and to explore the novel approaches which will lead us to render cancer curable. “
